บทคัดย่อIntroduction : The sensitivity and specificity of the immunodot test (Dynagen, Inc., Cambridge, USA), an antibody test for detection of active tuberculosis, was evaluated in HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients with and without active TB at Siriraj, central chest, and Bamrasnaradoon hospitals in Bangkok. A total of 564 patients were included, 141 of each which were : 1) HIV positive with active TB ; 2) HIV-negative with active TB ; 3) HIV- positive without TB and 4) HIV negative patients without TB. Results : The sensitivity of the mycodot test for detection of TB in HIV-positive TB patients was 41.6%, compared with 61.9% in HIV-negative patients (P<0.05). Specificity was comparable at 96.5% and 94.6%, respectivity. Conclusions : The mycodot test was found to be useful for the rapid diagnosis of TB, although the sensitivity of the mycodot test in diagnosis of TB was found to be significiantly lower in HIV seropositive than HIV-seronegative patients. Test specificity was acceptable for this application.
